Carcassonne Big Box Announced

Carcassonne Big Box Announced

“Positioned along vital trade routes across southern France, the countryside surrounding the fortified city of Carcassonne is a hub of activity. Noble knights patrol the city streets keeping the peace as merchants peddle their wares in the market. Outside of town, robbers prey on unsuspecting travelers while monks and farmers live a seemingly idyllic life in the country. For seventeen years, players have been able to explore this vast landscape in Klaus Jurgen-Wrede’s Carcassonne , the 2001 Spiel des Jahres winner. Each game transports players to medieval France where, using just tiles and some wooden meeples, they create an entire world brimming with possibilities. With its simple yet engaging gameplay, Carcassonne has captivated audiences from around the world since its debut in 2000. Now, new and experienced Carcassonne players alike can get their hands on the latest version of the Carcassonne Big Box ! Containing the original game, and packed with eleven ...

Estrella Drive Scenario Announced

Estrella Drive Scenario Announced

“Come in, agents. We’re glad you were able to attend. We’re still running the necessary diagnostics and analyzing the nature of the temporal anomaly, but we believe we now have enough information to give a preliminary briefing of what we project to be your next mission. We’ve codenamed it Estrella Drive. By now, you’ve doubtless gone on enough missions that you have some idea of what you’re getting into. You’re familiar with transfer procedures, the receptacles that you inhabit, and the caissons that you’ll use to travel to a new era within the Time Line. And with this mission in particular, you won’t be going quite as far into the past as you have in other missions—it’s not dynastic Egypt or the Middle Ages for you this time. Instead, you’ll be traveling to a place with a… unique position in history: Hollywood, California, in the year 1982.” View the full announcement from ...

Fallout Board Game Announced

Fallout Board Game Announced

“The Great War of 2077 is so long past there is no place in your memory for its events, but the barren landscape before you has its own story to tell. Immaculate homes which once housed seemingly perfect families and busied Mr. Handys have been transformed into empty shells. Humans wander the wasteland among mutated creatures and rogue robots, in search of little more than survival. You are now among them. Sure, this world might be a mere shadow of its former glory, but plenty of adventure and mystery still await a brave traveler. And your adventure has only just begun… Welcome Home Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Fallout, a post-nuclear adventure board game based on Bethesda’s blockbuster video game series. In Fallout, one to four players take on a role within an irradiated landscape inspired by those in Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and their downloadable content expansions. With just ...

Kickstarter Funding Trends

Kickstarter Funding Trends

“The crazy growth of Tabletop Games: If we can’t see how the Games category can be performing so well from looking at Video Games, it probably means that Tabletop Games are doing incredibly well. That is quite the understatement. Looking first at the number of projects, it is obvious that this subcategory of projects is bonkers: There is a strong and steady growth of the number of projects that are funded. There was no “potato salad” speculation effect in the second half of 2014 (at least, not as visibly as in other parts of the Kickstarter platform). The number of projects failing is stable, meaning the success ratio is steadily increasing (62% of the projects got funded in the first half of 2017)” View the full report here!

Not Alone: Exploration Expansion Coming

Not Alone: Exploration Expansion Coming

“Quick on the heels of the release of Not Alone at Origins last month, an expansion has been announced, Not Alone: Exploration. In this first expansion, new Hunt cards will be available for the Creature, new Survival cards will be added for the Hunted, and 10 new Location cards are added for the planet Artemia. The location cards can be played on their own, or they can be mixed in with the Locations for the base game, giving Not Alone an almost infinite combination of places to explore. Not Alone is published by Stronghold Games and designed by Ghislain Masson. It’s an asymmetrical game in which one player plays as a Creature trying to hunt down the other players that have crashed on the planet Artemia. The Hunted explore the planet by selecting a Location card and revealing it simultaneously, but only after the Creature uses Hunt cards and power tokens ...

AEG Taking Nominations For New Smash Up Factions

AEG Taking Nominations For New Smash Up Factions

“It is time for another contest to select new Factions for Smash Up! The results of the last contest were featured in the best-selling expansion “It’s Your Fault!”. The results of this contest will appear in the 2018 expansion “Oops, You Did It Again!” The contest begins with the Nominations Round, which we’re opening now. You can suggest any name for a faction you wish. Factions that get the most nominations will be seeded into the next round where the players will vote on their favorites! When submitting a faction name please don’t use any content that would be considered vulgar or adult. Remember, only names submitted by lots of people will move to the next round so when you’re suggesting an idea try to think about factions that other players will also be nominating! We encourage you to advocate for your nominee! Post about the contest anywhere Smash Up players congregate and ...
