“WINDUP WAR, the cute combat card game by game designers Katie Khau and Jess Chu, is hitting retail stores worldwide this month. Windup War is an action pre-programming combat card for 2-6 players, ages 8 and up, that plays in under 30 minutes.
Players will select one of of six tiny toy factions decks, assemble an army of three units and plan out their attack orders five moves at a time. Actions are revealed simultaneously, resulting in a quick and chaotic barrage of damage, victory points, and broken gears, and players must strategically balance their use of the reload card to make sure they always have the right cards needed for the next round.
The winner is either the last player with units still standing or the first army to score three points. Each faction of 30 cards is packaged separately in a match-box style deck making the game exceptionally portable. The complete set will retail for about $20.”
